Professors Jeffrey Myers and Ken Parsons took 16 students to Berlin, Germany, during Spring Break of 2010 (March 12-20). For a chronological set of pictures, videos and some brief descriptions of the sites visited, check the Updates section of this site (scrolling down to the relevant sections).
This course studied mass violence within the context of the Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide of 1994 and the Bosnian Civil War and Genocide of the mid- to late-1990s. With visits to two concentrations camps just outside Berlin (Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück), the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin and a number of other sites, the aftermath and memory of systematic violence was closely encountered and discussed.
